GMR Creation
Goods Movement References for UK RoRo ports, prepared fast.
The Goods Movement Reference (GMR) is the barcode that turns a set of customs declarations into a valid UK RoRo crossing. Without a GMR, a truck does not board at Dover, Holyhead, Harwich or any other GVMS-controlled port. We create GMRs from the underlying MRNs — imports, exports, transit, safety and security — validate the declaration-to-vehicle pairing before submission, watch the movement status right up to the border, and re-issue if a crossing slips. Driver stuck at the gate? One call to our bilingual operators and the issue is worked until the vehicle is released.

Frequently asked
What is the difference between a GMR and a declaration?
The declaration is the customs entry (import, export, transit). The GMR is the vehicle-level barcode that links one or more declarations to a specific UK RoRo crossing.
