Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from SMEs, freight forwarders and logistics teams moving goods between the UK and Ireland.

Do you file on CDS, AIS or both?

Both. UK imports and exports run on HMRC's CDS / AES systems; Irish imports and exports run on Revenue's AIS / AES. We pick the right system per movement and handle the crossing in either direction.

What is a PBN and when do I need one?

A Pre-Boarding Notification links a vehicle, a sailing and the underlying customs declarations into one reference the ferry operator and Revenue use at the Irish ramp. Any RoRo trailer arriving into an Irish port with goods needing a declaration needs a PBN.

Do I need an EORI number?

Yes. UK trade uses GB (and XI for Northern Ireland-linked movements); Irish trade uses IE. Without the right EORI you cannot be named on a declaration, a PBN or a GMR.

What is the difference between T1 and T2 transit?

T1 covers non-Union goods under external transit; T2 covers Union goods moving under internal transit through a non-EU territory. We determine which applies per consignment and open the movement on NCTS.

How does the Windsor Framework affect my Northern Ireland movements?

Movements for internal Northern Ireland use can travel under UKIMS (green lane, simplified information). Goods at risk of onward EU travel follow the full UCC path (red lane). We decide lane-by-lane and prepare the right declarations.

Do you handle safety & security (ENS) declarations?

Yes. UK imports need an S&S GB ENS; Irish imports fall under ICS2. We lodge both and pair them with the underlying import declaration and PBN or GMR.

Can I use postponed VAT accounting?

Yes in both jurisdictions. UK VAT-registered businesses can use PVA on imports; Irish VAT-registered businesses can use Postponed Accounting for Irish VAT. We select the right setting on the declaration.

What if my GMR or PBN is rejected at the port?

Call us. If a declaration has gone into query or not arrived, our team works with the port, the driver and the referenced declaration to fix the cause and re-issue — often within minutes. Bilingual operators are on call around the clock.

Do you work outside office hours?

Yes. We operate 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays. Overnight sailings from Holyhead, Dublin and early morning arrivals at Rosslare are some of our busiest windows.

Can I get service in Turkish?

Yes. Every shift has a bilingual operator available in Turkish and English. Documents, declarations, PBNs, GMRs and status updates can be issued and discussed in either language.

Do I need to file Intrastat?

If you are VAT-registered in Ireland or Northern Ireland and your intra-EU arrivals or dispatches cross the monthly threshold, yes. We monitor thresholds, map commodity codes and file the return on your behalf.
